Holly’s eyes bulged. “What do you mean, ‘snooping’? We can’t do that, Jamie!”

“Sure we can.”

“What? Right under the nose of Plummet? He’ll probably arrest us too!”

Jamie grinned. “By snooping, I really meant ask some questions.” She sighed in regret. “I know we can’t actually poke around the building.”

“What sorts of questions?” Natasha’s eyes were bright. “I’ve never done any detective work before. How do we start?”

Jamie fished in the bag she carried over her shoulder. “Well, I did a summary of everything we know so far.” She paused with a grin. “Gosh, I feel like I’m channeling my inner Myrtle, just saying that.”

Holly rolled her eyes but couldn’t help a small smile. “Which reminds me—we haven’t called her yet.”

“And we’re not going to!” Jamie was adamant. “Becky can fill her in if she wants to. I wonder if she’s done any research yet. You should call her, Holly, and ask.”

“It’s only been a few hours. I know Becky’s a genius on the computer, but I think we have to give her a little more time. And besides, she’s probably still at work.” Holly sighed when her friend frowned. “Fine. I’ll call.”

Jamie beamed. “Good. Now, Nat, look at this.”
